Live Inauguration Coverage...Alice Smith and Mos Def news.

By Dominga Martin

On January 20th B.B. King Blues Club and Hot 97FM will play host for the Inauguration of Barack Obama. New Yorkers who are not trucking to DC with the millions of thrill seekers, will be able to relax in comfort and intimate atmosphere. A huge screen will be set up at Lucille's Grill, inside the venue where patrons can sit comfortably and enjoy a tasty menu as they watch history unfold. Doors open at 11am and it is free with reservations.

A few days later, independent artist Alice Smith hits the stage at The Highline Ballroom where she will belt out a few tunes from her debut album "For Lovers, Dreamers and Me." A cd which one can listen to from beginning to end, will have you singing (or trying to sing along) with this 4-Octave range crooner.

Later that evening and throughout the 25th, Grammy-nominated and Golden Globe nominated actor Mos Def will swing by the Blue Note for the first time in 5 years. It will be an intimate performance with a live band that includes Chris Dave, Derrick Hodge and Casey Benjamin.  A rare treat as we all await his next album The Ecstatic. Mos Def is currently starring in the film Cadillac Records where he plays Chuck Berry.
