Keri Hilson...Oprah and inside APOTHEKE
"You better recognize a real woman!" States Ms. Hilson, getting serious airplay right now. I'm still waiting for my digital download to review...however, it looks like I'll be attending a release party instead-in 2 cities!
Well, a fabulous writer is attending on our behalf in ATL, where Keri Hilson has an Alice and Wonderland Theme to celebrate her new album "In a Perfect World." Tonight she will be in NYC...a party I will trek to after I check out the sold out event at BB Kings (Trey Songz, J. Holiday, Case and more!).
Ginuwine will also be in the house...yes, he's back with a new album "Last Chance" (June 2nd). Will get a chance to catch up to him and see where he's been and how he's comeback after losing both of his parents a few years ago. It's kind of hard to get back up after losing a parent. I lost my father suddenly last year and my world was turned upside down. The only thing that got me through is the Grace of GOD and my dreams. Special Shout out to Pastor Perry in Boston!
Sorry...but I often go to church on a whim! Speaking of "church" Oprah had a session where Steve Harvey took a room full of women to the promise land...a promise that we must make to ourselves when the men in our life aren't acting right--a promise not to hold a man accountable, if we are not taking a good look at ourselves and what we are also bringing to the table; a promise that when we love our WHOLE SELVES we will get the WHOLE PACKAGE.
I especially enjoyed the show, based on Steve Harvey's new book "Act Like a Lady...Think Like a Man" because a few of my friends were profiled (shout out to The Collective!). In addition, another friend Kevin Powell, chimed in on another show addressing Domestic Violence-it made me wonder: "What happened to our worth?" When we allow a man to cheat, hit, disrespect...he will continue. Same for the men out there who are in abusive relationships. Women who want to hold you back from fulfilling your dreams...we have to love ourselves more to step away from unhealthy, toxic situations and that goes for all aspects of our lives.
Like Keri Hilson said: "Look here lil buster, you got one more time..."
Speaking of real women, I had a chance to catch up with my friend Abiola who is on the new VH-1 Show "Tough Love" and she gave me some insight on the show. We will have something fun especially for you soon!
However, what we both agreed on is "a healing process is essential before stepping into any relationship." It's simple. How do we expect to have a healthy relationship if one half is coming into the door broken? We had a great time at the event, which was held at a location called Apotheke.
The awning on the door said it was the Golden Flower Restaurant. I hear it use to be an Opium Den...whatever it was prior, whether an Opium Den or a Restaurant...it was a place that should stay on the down low...very exclusive...small but quaint...sexy and for those who want to chill in a haute spot!
Until Next Time,
See you in the City!
Dominga~
