Just say Ahhhhhhhh...Brooklyn's New Beauty Bar!
Today I decided to take a break in the middle of the week and pamper myself. As a journalist I find myself sitting in front of the computer all day, answering and deleting emails in my overflowing in-box and before I know it--it's dinner time...and I realize I've skipped breakfast and lunch and barely making it off the fumes of a large coffee with Cinnamon Bun Coffee Mate.
So, I turned off the computer and the phone and chose to play hookie...sort of, considering my pampering was all work related (W!NK). It started with a press release I received from Buzz International Group about a new Eco-Friendly Beauty Bar opening in Brooklyn called W!NK.
Owner Tani Chambers created the place because she began greening her lifestyle and realized it would have to include her beauty products and regimens as well. "Shockingly, there was no place in Brooklyn to accommodate my needs where I didn't question sanitation and the safety of the products used. Not to mention that every place looked the same, so I decided to create W!NK Eco Beauty Bar, a place that addressed all those needs," says Ms. Chambers.
The grand opening is set for Tuesday April 7th, however, I was invited to come try out a few special treats:
W!NK Signature Manicure A combination of soothing hot towels, exfoliating scrub infused with essential oils and a tantalizing massage makes this mani more than basic. Top it off with the polish of your choice.

Hmmmm...so many goodies, so little time, however, since my last esthetician moved back to India, I realized I needed a new one to thread my brows, so I opted for the Beau-T-Full Brows and guess what? Pain free and no more watery eyes! I think I found my new girl--her name is Dara.
Yet, I'm excited to try a new treatment I'd never heard of...it's called "Sugaring" and is an alternative and healthier way to wax. The sugar is formulated into a honey type of consistency and then removes hair. Who knew?!
Next up...the W!NK Signature Manicure, which almost put me to sleep. The warm towels, scented with citrus was the perfect way to soothe my typing fingers. The best part about the manicure treatment is the "Nail Parlor" bar which is situated by the window so you get to see all the trendy Brooklynites walk by the emerging neighborhood.
If you're ever in Brooklyn, check out this new, chic, eco-friendly haute spot...and it's reasonable for fashionistas during a recession. After my beautiful brows and nails were done, I trekked to Soho for my hair appointment at Aveda--task at hand? Hair lightened and my curls straightened.
I thought I'd be able to make the album release party for Award-Winning Broadway Star/Recording Artist Chester Gregory afterwards, but whoa, my hair didn't finish until almost 10 pm!
One hour later, I was back home in Brooklyn, in front of the computer, feeling refreshed and so happy I took a day to just say ahhhhhhhh! I think I'll dip out on work in the middle of the day more often...since my skipping out is work related anyway (W!NK).
