  • St Nick Premiers at Rooftop Films

    Rooftop Films will present the New York Premiere of St. Nick on Friday, August 28.


    There will be live music performance by Cameron Hull prior to the film and a filmmaker Q and A following the screening with director David Lowery, producer James M. Johnston, and cinematographer Clay Lifford. After the Q and A there will be a reception outdoors in the courtyard, featuring complimentary sangria courtesy of Carlo Rossi.

The debut took place at the Clearview Cinemas in Chelsea, NY followed by an exclusive invite-only cocktail reception at GLASS Lounge.

  • Movies to Watch...out For

    It seems as if the new trend in movie making are sports documentaries.  Kobe Doin' Work (Directed by Spike Lee) was a huge hit at this year's Tribeca Film Festival and now LeBron is getting in the game. 


    Beginning in October, there are a few films I want to see, including the BIG BUZZ on Lee Daniel's new film starring Mo'Nique and Mariah Carey who I are are gaining LOTS of attention for their amazing performances.

  • ActNow: New Voices in Black Cinema Launches!

    The Act Now Foundation has joined forces with BAMcinematek to create ActNow: New Voices in Black Cinema; a quarterly series which will showcase Black filmmakers, kicking off in Brooklyn with the support of Brooklyn Council Member Letitia James and Brooklyn based Media Sponsor, Crème-Magazine.com.


    The inaugural film is 6 Things I Never Told You, screening Thu, Aug 27 at 6:50 with a Q&A with filmmakers) in addition to a 9:30pm screening. The film is Directed by 6 Leagues, comprised of Six Black award-winning alums of NYU’s Graduate Film Program came together and formed “6 Leagues,” an underground film collective. Committed to the notion of collaboration and exploration, they created a feature film anthology of cinematic snapshots examining romantic relationships in flux, each segment staking out a significant landmark in the timeline of relationships.

  • Rooftop Film's August Line-Up

    Rooftop Films has gained so much buzz, that now they're moving off the roof and into neighboring boroughs.  Their eighteen remaining screenings include stunning short films, fantastic fiction and daring documentary features. In keeping with our programming goals of bringing you films you won't see anywhere else, three feature films are NY, US and World Premieres: St. Nick (August 28), the acclaimed neo-Badlands pre-teen fiction from David Lowery; Rock Heart Beijing (August 21), a political rock n roll doc from China, and Burning in the Sun (Sept. 19), which tells the story of a young man bringing solar power to his native Mali (the screening itself will be held at Solar One, and will be solar powered!)
