Mos Def's new album drops on my Birthday and I'm ECSTATIC! I had a chance to attend Mos Def's concert in Carnegie Hall last year and was so inspired by his artistry. He's a classic hip-hop and although Mos wears many hats, he truly shines when he's on stage doing what he was born to do.
By now, I've seen Mos perform many times and my favorite performances are when he's joined by the Hypnotic Brass Band Ensemble. Artists like Mos are a dime a dozen and should be supported for their lyrical mastery.
The Ecstatic will be available In Stores On June 9, 2009. Special guests include Talib Kweli and Slick Rick. 'The Ecstatic' produced by Oh No, Chad Hugo, Mad Lib, Mr. Flash, DJ Preservation, J Dilla, Georgia Anne Muldrow.
Check out the video of his new single "Casa Bey."

Mos Def will always be known for Black Star, which he formed with friend Talib Kweli, who is also an amazing lyricist; two true MC's who break the mold when it comes to the culture of hip-hop.
If you have never heard of Mos, I think you've been under a rock...Cop his previous cd's and get ready for The Ecstatic.
The following is a must for your CD collection:
1. Black Star, the one that set it off.
2. Black on Both Sides
3. The New Danger
4. True Magic
I love them all!!!! ECSTATICS enters stores 6.9.09.
Now...drumroll please...EMINEM is finally coming out with his highly anticipated album "Relapse" set to be released on May 19. The album's debut single, "Crack a Bottle," was released in February and set a first week record for digital sales at the time, while the first official single and video, "We Made You," debuted in April.
"To date, Eminem has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide. His previous studio album, "Encore," reached No. 1 and dominated the charts in late 2004. The Grammy-nominated disc was certified quadruple-platinum, generated four Top 40 Hot 100 hits and has sold more than 11 million copies. In October 2008, Eminem published "Eminem: The Way I Am," a compilation of thoughts, stories and memorabilia that entered The New York Times Best-Seller List at No. 11."
I'd have to say "We Made You" is a fun song and music video despite the controversy. Seems as if this time around, Eminem also has some competition. He's no longer the only "hot" white boy rapper, as Asher Roth has been making his rounds too.
However, Em, is promting heavily and will make an appearnace to host "Animation Domination" with Family Guy's Stewie Griffin, on May 17th (Sunday Night, on FOX).
Since we're on appearances, Mr. Jamie Foxx will host BET's 2009 Award show...you don't want to miss this! I hear Maxwell will be performing. Should be a hot night, live from the Shrine Auditorium in LA. The 9th Annual show airs Sunday, June 28th.
