The Int'l Latino Film Festival Debuts "King of Paper Chasin'"
ChaseOn Saturday, August 1st, 2009, The New York International Latino Film Festival, in association with HBO Films presents the debut screening of "King of Paper Chasin'-The Movie" at Clearview Cinemas (Chelsea location) at 8:00pm.
King of Paper Chasin' is led by Triplebeam Entertainment Hip Hop Recording Artist Dwayne "DL" Clark. DL portrays the role of "Carter Blanche" while Actress/Model Piarry Oriol takes on the role of DL’s distrusting girlfriend "Thaila". This New York City crime-drama is inspired by actual events and is brilliantly captured and told by first time feature film director La Monte Edwards and is executive produced by Dwayne "DL" Clark. This movie tells the story of one man's rise to power 'Carter Blanche', and his journey of how he claimed his stake in the American dream. Additional cast members include Lauren Hooper “Rachel Anderson”, J. Stephen Williams “Uglyman”, Joe Soma “Agent Richardson”, Jason Rivera “Dell” and Dennis L.A. White “JB” among others.
In a city of 9 Million people everyone is engulfed in the everyday rat-race chasing that almighty dollar. But history teaches us that behind every wealthy empire is a major crime; and "Carter's" rise to power is no exception. Trying to go legit, he is faced with deception, betrayal, and self serving agendas from those closest to him, mainly his live in girlfriend "Thaila". Little does “Carter” know that his girlfriend is cooperating with the FBI to build a case against him. "Cart’s" childhood friend and partner in crime "Uglyman" (Ug) is released from jail after 7 years. Ug, is now back in the picture again and begins to cause conflict with "Cart’s" new cohort "Dell" who has trouble trusting the loyalty of "Carter's" past crew. "Carter" must maneuver his way through all of those who want to see his empire crumble. As he determines who's friend or foe, the decisions "Carter" makes can and will cost lives.
King of Paper Chasin' is solely financed by Dwayne "DL" Clark, a hip hop artist and CEO of his own record label, Triplebeam Entertainment, who wanted to step outside the box and dare to be different. In an effort to further promote his music career and build leverage in what is an over saturated field he decided to finance this 7 figure project himself to allow the audience a look into his life and past experiences. "I don’t expect everyone to be happy with what I'm doing" says DL, "…but it was a story I wanted to tell. There is a lot of embellishment for entertainment purposes, but for the most part the premise of the movie is based off actual events," he adds.
The film will be accompanied by the self-titled soundtrack “King of Paper Chasin’” and will be released under the imprint of Triplebeam Entertainment and lead by the street anthem “Bossman” performed by “DL” and the club banger "Throw it on Me", produced by Skem. In addition, the soundtrack will include productions and collaborations by Platinum producer Jimi Kendrix (Jay Z, 50 Cent, R. Kelly), Mona Lisa and Chainsmoka among a few other surprises.
